Our training is free of many of the limiting dogmas of yoga and geared to the liberation of the individual toward physical, mental, and spiritual wholeness.
During your time spent immersed in yoga, you will gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence you need to become an exceptionally, successful Yoga Instructor, able to work in any environment you choose.

The Best Way to Learn the Practice

The integrated curriculum Bodhi Yoga™ offers is led by expert teachers, (Primarily Syl Carson, Bodhi Yoga™ Founder), with decades of experience, who embody what they teach.  At Bodhi Yoga™ we have found that the best way to learn how to teach yoga is to learn to immerse yourself in philosophies of a yogic lifestyle, so that your teaching comes from within your own deep personal experience.

Syl shares:  “Yoga is an ancient tradition with tremendous benefits for modern society. The Bodhi Yoga  Center shares a sincere desire to illuminate the essential truths of yoga, while supporting you in the discovery of your own style and competent, creative teaching ability.”

Bodhi Yoga™ Instructors develop an exceptional sense of KRATU. Kratu is the Sanskrit word meaning Intelligence of Action. They share this understanding as they serve to inspire their own students’ discovery of yoga.”

The total hours for this training add up to 260. Why?

Bodhi Yoga™ requires 80 hours of personal private yoga practice with just you and your mat (or meditation pillow).  These hours are every bit as important as your Immersions Sessions, in helping you become an exceptional instructor.

You can begin your personal practice hours as soon as you enroll in the program ($500. deposit & accepted application), and you will have 1 year from the last Yoga Immersion Session date to complete all required practice.

No, you can return to complete additional certifications at any time.

If I am also doing the
Bodhi Yoga™ Thai Partner Yoga 200-hour Practitioner Training to I have to repeat the yoga practicum hours?

If you are enrolled in the TPYT Certification track and also doing (or have done) the 200-Hour Bodhi Yoga™Instructor Cert. your practicum hours of personal yoga practice cross over, so no, you do not need to repeat.

Why should I certify with Bodhi Yoga™
instead of paying less for a weekend or less intense Yoga Teacher Training?

Hopefully, the program description will speak for itself.  Syl chose to offer the Bodhi Yoga™ Certification at the request of her students, who began asking for more in-depth training in 2001.  Over the next three years she thoughtfully developed a program to offer a comprehensive training.  Her intention was to provide yoga trainings that both addressed, and filled the gaps, she had seen in teachers who had certified elsewhere, and included things she had hoped for in her own training.  Since the training began in 2004, it has evolved with more and more nuances of Yoga study, and continues to do so.

When you participate in a “quickie” yoga instructor certification, there is simply not enough time to learn the skills to safely guide a yoga class.  When the yoga instructor lacks a comprehensive understanding of yoga, and has basically just a yoga routine to teach, there is a marked increase in risk of injury to students.

When students are injured or don’t fully understand the potentials of yoga, this spreads misinformation to doctors who treat injuries, as well as friends and family, which can hurt the reputation and viability of all yoga instructors and the overall reputation of yoga itself.

Can I pay my tuition over time?

Yes, once you have paid the $500 deposit and have an accepted Bodhi Yoga™ application, you can break your tuition payments down into six monthly auto- payments of $495 to your credit card each month.  Your tuition will need to be paid in full by the first Bodhi Yoga™ Immersion Weekend.
